Troy started his career as a Mechanical Engineer but was diverted into the safety field in 1987 with the expansion of the Hazard Communication Standard - his boss said, "Yes Troy I think you're right, that new law does apply to us - do it." Since then he has spent the last 27 years addressing safety issues. He has worked in the petroleum, food, and glass industries with facilities throughout North America.
Troy has worked for Toyota's Corporate Engineering Safety Department based in Erlanger, KY for the last 14 years. His current responsibilities range from cranes safety to evaluating robotic & other mechanical systems to promoting the use of risk assessments throughout the organization as well as participating on a variety of ISO, ANSI and CSA consensus standards.
Troy celebrated his 15th year as a Cert. Safety Pro. and has been a guest lecturer for the University of Cincinnati's Graduate Safety Program and at Gateway Community College.
He commemorates his Hawaiian heritage by hosting an annual Luau complete with Kahlua Pig.
